1. Automatic Data Collection When Visiting the Website

When you access this website, technical information (referred to as server log files) is automatically collected, including: 

  • Browser type and version 
  • Operating system 
  • IP address 
  • Referrer URL (previously visited page) 
  • Time of access

Purpose of Processing:

  • Ensuring stable connections and technically flawless display of the website. 
  • Analyzing system security and stability (for abuse prevention). 
  • Optimizing website usability.

This data is not combined with personal data. No evaluation of your identity takes place. We reserve the right to review log files retroactively if there is evidence of unlawful use. 

2. Personal Data

Personal data (e.g., name, email, address) is only collected when you actively provide it, such as when: 

  • Registering a user account (required: name and email). 
  • Submitting forms or comments. 
  • Requesting a password reset (your IP address will be noted in the confirmation email).

Use of these features is voluntary. 

3. Data Sharing

  • To Third Parties: Your data is used solely for the purposes of [Website Name]. Disclosure occurs only under legal obligation (e.g., official requests).

4. Embedded Forms (Jotform)

For online questionnaires, we use Jotform. Key points: 

  • Jotform stores your form responses on Google Cloud servers in Frankfurt, Germany. 
  • Data responsibility lies with [Your Name/Company].

5. Comments

When you leave comments, we store: 

  • Your comment text. 
  • IP address and browser identifier (User-Agent string) for spam detection. 
  • Optional: Name, email, and website (if provided in the form).

Comments may be checked by automated spam-detection tools. 

6. Uploaded Media

Note for Registered Users: Avoid uploading images with embedded GPS location data (EXIF). Visitors may download such files and extract location information. 

7. Cookies and External Services

  • Essential Cookies:
    • Login: Temporary session cookies (expire after 2 days or 2 weeks if “Stay logged in” is selected). 
    • Comments: Optional storage of name/email/website in cookies (1-year validity). 
    • No analytics cookies are used.
  • Affiliate Programs:
    • AWIN (Fressnapf, Outdooractive CH) and ADCELL (Tractive) use cookies with a 30-day lifespan.

8. Embedded Content (e.g., Videos, Social Media)

Embedded content from third-party websites (e.g., YouTube, Jotform) behaves as if you visited those sites directly. These providers may collect data, use cookies, or implement tracking. 

9. Spam and Security Protection

  • Google reCAPTCHA (v2 and/or v3): Used to distinguish human users from automated inputs and to prevent abuse by automated access. In this process, personal data (e.g. IP address, device and interaction data) may be transmitted to Google and processed on behalf of the data controller. Google acts as a data processor in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
  • WP Armour Honeypot: Prevents spam bots by using hidden form fields.

The use of these measures is based on my legitimate interest in ensuring the security and proper functioning of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

10. Data Retention Period

  • Comments and metadata remain stored indefinitely to auto-approve follow-up comments. 
  • User Accounts: Profile data can be edited or deleted at any time (except username).

11. Your Rights

You have the right to: 

  • Request access to your stored personal data. 
  • Correct or delete your data (unless legal obligations require retention). 
  • Export your data in a standard format.

12. Sharing Content via Social Media

Sharing content via social media buttons (e.g., Facebook, WhatsApp) is subject to the respective platform’s privacy policies. 

13. Data processing in the app “PawsUnited Go!”

The protection of your data and transparency are also paramount in the PawsUnited Go! app. The app has been developed to ensure you retain full control over your information.

  • Exclusively Local Storage: All data you enter into the app, such as your dog’s profiles or personal notes, is stored exclusively locally on your device. This personal data is not transferred to or synchronized with any server or cloud service. You retain sole control over your entries.
  • Provision of App Content: To provide the app with up-to-date content like articles, images, or information, “PawsUnited Go!” connects to the server that also hosts this website (pawsunited.ch). During this process, no personal data is transmitted from your device to the server. The connection is solely for retrieving content, similar to visiting a webpage. No data is shared with third parties.
  • No Analytics or Tracking: “PawsUnited Go!” completely refrains from using third-party analytics tools or tracking mechanisms. Your usage of the app is not monitored or evaluated. The only exception is anonymized diagnostic data from Apple: If you have consented in your iOS settings to the general sharing of diagnostic & usage data with app developers, I may receive anonymized crash reports and aggregated usage statistics provided by Apple. This data is not personally identifiable and is used exclusively to improve the app’s stability.
  • App Permissions: The app only requests permissions when they are necessary for a feature you are actively using. Examples include access to your photos to add a profile picture for your dog, or permission to send you a notification for a reminder. These permissions are voluntary and can be managed and revoked by you at any time in your device’s iOS settings.

14. Data Processing in the “Jot Diary” App

Jot Diary was developed with the principle of maximum privacy (“Privacy by Design”). The app is designed to be your personal, local, and secure companion. The following applies:

  • Local Storage & iCloud Synchronization: All your journal entries, mood data, and added photos are stored exclusively on your device. To synchronize your data between your devices (e.g., iPhone and iPad) or to create a backup, Jot Diary uses Apple’s iCloud service. This synchronization is end-to-end encrypted and occurs directly between your device and your personal iCloud account. As the developer, I have no access at any time to the content stored in the app or in your iCloud. You are responsible for managing your iCloud data in your device settings.
  • No Data Collection by the Developer: Jot Diary does not collect, transmit, or analyze any personal data or usage information and contains no third-party tracking tools. The only exception is the anonymized diagnostic data from Apple, as described in section 13 above, which may be used to improve app stability if you have consented to its transmission in your iOS settings.
  • No External Communication: The app does not establish a connection to external servers to send data or load content. The only network activity is the Apple-managed iCloud synchronization.
  • App Permissions: Any permissions requested by the app (e.g., access to the photo library or permission for notifications) are used exclusively for the app’s core functionality (e.g., adding a photo to an entry or setting up a reminder). These permissions can be managed by you at any time in your device settings.
