Natural Wonders in Sweden: Summer Heat, Blossoming Splendor, and Grateful Glances Back
Almost exactly one year ago, I arrived in Sweden—and what a year of surprises, growth, natural wonders, and unexpected beauty it has been! Today, I sit here in Glommersträsk, surrounded by buzzing bees, wildflower meadows, and a heat that does not spare even the far north. But let’s take it step by step…
Of Puzzle Pieces and Divine Guidance
When I came here last year, I didn’t know that I would stay. But today, as I look back, I feel deep gratitude. It’s as if God has gently placed each piece of my journey’s puzzle in the right spot—even the seemingly random encounters or challenges suddenly made sense. For that, I am infinitely grateful.
Summer in the North: When the Arctic Circle Swelters
If you thought Sweden’s natural wonders were limited to the Northern Lights and autumn forests, I’m afraid I have to disappoint you—this summer reveals a whole new side! For weeks, we’ve been experiencing unusual heat that even surprises the locals. 30 degrees in the shade? In the far north? That was definitely not on my wish list! 😅 But nature knows how to cope—and so do I: the countless lakes around Glommersträsk have become our salvation.
Lina, the water lover, has developed her own strategy against the heat. Whether fetching toys or simply splashing around, she turns every swim day into a comedy show. But see for yourself in the video—isn’t she adorable? 🥰
Unfortunately, there aren’t too many photos of Ayla because she doesn’t like being photographed—and when she does, she usually looks a bit funny at the camera, as if to ask, “Why are you bothering me again?” 😜
Blossoms, Bees, and the Quest for the Perfect Photo
While Lina dives into the lake, I try to capture the beauty of nature. Sweden’s natural wonders are evident in every bloom: purple fireweed, daisies like little suns, and a symphony of buzzing all around. But photographing bumblebees and bees? A true challenge! My lens may not be the most professional for this purpose, but I’ve learned: creativity trumps technology.
ISO, Shutter Speed, and a Touch of Patience
After numerous blurry attempts, I experimented—and lo and behold, the colors glow! The photos may not all be perfectly sharp, but they exude exactly what I feel: vitality. Perhaps that is the true magic of nature—it doesn’t have to be perfect to enchant us.
Gratitude That Blooms Like Wildflowers
As I wander through nature, I feel this deep sensation over and over: I belong here. The heat may be unusual, the insects too quick for my camera—but that’s what makes it authentic. Every sunset, every bumblebee diving into a flower—these natural wonders of Sweden remind me of how richly blessed we are.
What the Summer Still Holds…
Who knows how long the heat will last? Maybe a Swedish rain shower will soon follow. Until then, I’m enjoying the lakes, Lina’s cheerful barking (OK, sometimes the barking is a bit annoying 🙄…), and the buzzing of the bees. And yes—I will keep honing my photography skills!

(“Thank you for being here!”—in Swedish 😊)
P.S.: The heat may make me sweat at times, but it also has its perks: Never before have I so intensely experienced the powerful and ever-changing nature of the North. And for that, I am grateful—every single day. 🌸🐝🌞
This post is not only a journey through the Swedish summer but also an invitation to discover the small wonders around us. Stay curious—and stay grateful! 💛
